Tuesday, March 16, 2004 Hey sorry for the illness and I'm glad you're now fine. I'm more thrilled that you seem excited about God's word. Tell me you're not prayerful, not witnessing not ..... and I know you're not reading the Bible. From it, we are revatalised to love God and from this flows spontenous obedience. I think that concerning dry devotion times, the key cause for this is to think that devotion time is the only time for communion with God. Not only is this untrue (since the whole of life is sacred, sacramental and worship) but also such an understanding deprives the Christian the opportunity to live an abundant life which entails a submission of the whople of life to the Lord ship of Christ. When we think that worship is a moment of the day or week , we miss the whole point of the tearing of the curtain when Christ died; the entrance to the most holy place is open for anyone at anyone through Christ! This stuff thrills me and I could talk about it all day but my prayer for you is that indeed you will enjoy sweet and meaningful fellowship with the Lord every second of your life. Have a great week too.posted by Gideon Banda at 2:14 AM Monday, March 15, 2004 Dear Gids! Hey, what I wrote you earlier first and this will make a lot more sense. Anyway, We just got back from this youth conference and it was SOOO good. You know how sometiems you get really comfortable as a christian and even though you read your Bible and pray and stuff, you don't really grow much or REALLY change at all? You just kind of do it, you know? Well, the speakers that I heard during this conference were so so so good and it was just totally what I needed and it really hit me hard. I hear 2 really good speakers out of 4 and even thought the 2 bad ones were really bad and unprepared, it was worth it just to hear the other 2. One spoke on Ps 1:2 on the words "delight in" and he said that we have to be "in" in the word to know Christ and then he said that one of our biggest problems is that we don't delight in the word like we should because we put all our energy elsewhere. And if we truely delighted in the word, we would know that it was true and we would see it work in our lives.posted by Bethany at 1:57 PM |
