Hey Bethany
Thanks so much for your efforts despite the risks involved. I pray that all will go wll if it the Lord's will, and especially that this does not jeorpadise in a major way your relationship with your dad. This means alot to me and I can't thankyou enough just for the thought of it, even if it won't come through.I'm praying too.
Among the six courses I'm taking this term,I did a block course on the gospels and I'm still doing a course on the pentateuch (Ist 5 books of the Bible) One major thing I'm learning is how the Old and the new testament relate. One lecturer said,' The Old in is the new revealed and the new is in the old concealed' A different professor thinks that the whole Bible is a commentary on the Pentateuch! All this stuff is interesting especially seeing how Christ and His work on the cross is preached all the way from Genesis 3 when God cursed the serpent and said that the Son will crush the serpent's head, some even argue that when God clothed Adam and Eve with animal skin, that was the first gospel in the sense that an animal was killed, that was the first 'type' of sacrifice which is then ultimately fulfilled in Christ. I encourage you to read the old testament because it is part of scripture and useful. Do you know that Paul had in mind the Septuagint(Greek version of the OT)in mind when he wrote about the scriptures in 2 Tim 3:16. and that Jesus quoted it as an authority? One of my professors said,'Being a new testament Christian is like breathing with one lung!' However I must caution you to remember to read the OT in the 'eyes" of the NT.
Next thursday,We'll be on midterm break,I'm still not sure whether to go to Mombasa or visit some friends and churches in Nairobi, keep me in prayer about that too because I want to invest my time strictly on Kingdom work. God bless you and thank you again.
In His Kingdom
Giddy.
